Sarah Tarawneh is the Chief Executive Officer of the Securities Depository Center of Jordan (SDC), the sole entity authorized to register securities, conduct the clearing and settlement of traded securities, and provide post-trade services to investors in the Jordanian capital market.
With 20 years of experience at the SDC, Sarah brings extensive expertise in central securities depository operations, as well as a strong legal and regulatory background. Throughout her career, she has been closely involved in the SDC’s depository, clearing, and settlement operations and has contributed to drafting legislation governing these activities. She has also played an active role in aligning the SDC’s operations with international standards and best practices applicable to capital markets and central securities depositories.
Sarah serves as a Director on the Management Body of the Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA), where she contributes to governance, risk, legal, and compliance matters, as well as oversight of technology and cybersecurity topics.
She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Africa & Middle East Depositories Association (AMEDA), contributing to regional cooperation, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among central securities depositories.
In addition, Sarah is a Board Director of the Federation of Euro-Asian Capital Markets (FEAS), representing the interests and perspectives of CSD members.
Throughout her career at the SDC, Sarah has represented Jordan within the Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA), a global association dedicated to promoting standardization across the financial industry through the implementation of ISO standards and identifiers for financial instruments.
Prior to her appointment as CEO of the SDC, Sarah served as Director of Legal Affairs and was also assigned responsibility for managing the SDC’s research and public relations functions. Earlier in her career, she practiced as a licensed lawyer at a private law firm specializing in commercial and civil law.
Sarah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Jordan and is a licensed attorney and member of the Jordan Bar Association. She has completed numerous specialized courses in capital markets and holds the Investment Foundations Certificate from CFA Institute.
