Attila Szalay-Berzeviczy


Attila is a former President of the Budapest Stock Exchange and a former member of the Managing Board of the Federation of European Securities Exchange, with over 32 years of experience in international investment banking. In his career he has served in progressively senior roles with three major financial institutions including Budapest Bank in Hungary (1990-1999), UniCredit Group in Italy (1999-2011), and Raiffeisen Bank International in Austria (2012-2020) where he was responsible for running the global securities services business line for the entire Central Eastern European (CEE) region. After serving four years at the helm of the Hungarian bourse (2004-2008) he worked as a Senior Advisor to the CEO and President of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (2012-2013). He was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, Knight’s Cross In 2008, in recognition of his leading role in the development of the Hungarian securities market and pension system. This included introducing the individual retirement account as the fourth pillar of the Hungarian pension system, driving increased activity in national capital markets. In 2021 he founded Szalay-Berzeviczy Financial Institutions Advisory which he has been managing ever since. Currently he is a Senior Advisor on international capital markets at Ernst & Young Consulting and Erste Investment in Budapest.
